As everyone already knows, Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 lineup on Tuesday at their September Wonderlust event. There has been many announcements and updates, so I will share my highlights and some things to note from the latest iPhone lineup.
Let’s start with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. One of the most major upgrades for the regular phones this year is the 48MP camera. With this, it brings it on par to that of the Pro models, concerning the Megapixels and quality that way. There is also a new Telephoto lens, although there is no third camera, which means there is 2x zoom on the Main Camera. Portraits also get a great boost with higher image resolution and focus editing and more depth on each camera. Night mode now comes with richer color and sharper detail, with Smart HDR enhances that further when the lighting is inconsistent. With great modes previously available, like Cinematic and Action mode, 4K HDR amplifies those even more than before.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are now faster than ever, with the A16 Bionic chip powering everything. This is the same amazing chip that was in the iPhone 14 Pro, so it is a proven powerhouse. There is another new chip present, the new U2 (Ultra Wideband 2nd Generation) which allows the phone to be located more precisely, and to locate other iPhone 15’s with precision finding, like on the AirTag.
There are also many other features to note, like a USB-C port, Dynamic Island, and a color infused glass with aluminum design, with rounded edges, and a matte textured finish. Something I noticed with the color choices for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are there are no White/Starlight and no (PRODUCT)RED. I could get why there would be no White/Starlight color because the color hues for this year or very muted and faded, with the blue almost resembling white. Since the colors are very neutral, it pushes those people who like white a bit out of their comfort zone, but still getting that muted color that doesn’t stand out. The full color lineup for the 15’s are Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, and Black. Apple also has added some new important safety features, like Roadside Assistance via Satellite for when you need help off the beaten path.
Now, the Pro lineup. This is where Apple has fully pushed themselves to make the most exhilarating iPhone to date. Starting with the Titanium outer case, it creates the lightest, and most durable Pro model yet. With it being the same material used for space exploration, it is a great amount more durable than the previous used Stainless Steel. And, the thinnest bezels on an iPhone, brushed edging, and new contoured edges make iPhone 15 Pro even more enjoyable to hold.
Concerning processors, the Pros pack a real punch, with the all-new, A17 Pro chip. It is the first Apple made chip to be made with the 3-nanometer process, making more compact and efficient. A 6-core GPU and 6-core CPU with a 2x faster Neural Engine highlight the groundbreaking performance upgrades of this new chip. The Pros also have the new U2 chip, with those great new capabilities that come with it too.
I cannot forget about the cameras, of course. Highlights include higher quality photos themselves (24 MP) and as if you having 7 lenses on your phone itself. Now the iPhone 15 Pro Max has 5x Telephoto zoom with the 120 mm lens. And now you can take spatial videos with both the Main and Ultra Wide cameras to view and relive the memories on Apple Vision Pro to see as if you are there in the moment. There are many of the new camera features from the iPhone 15’s, along with so many more features just to the camera. You can check more out here: iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max – Apple
There are also many other new features to the Pro models as well, like the new Action button. Instead of a ringer switch, you can now customize the button to do a myriad of actions, including still silence your phone. The Pros also have USB-C with USB 3 capabilities and faster transfers speeds. WiFi 6E is also supported with the next generation of WiFi. They come in new Titanium finishes, with Black Titanium, White Titanium, Blue Titanium, and Natural Titanium.
Overall, the new iPhone 15 lineup really is impressive. With new features and abilities paving the way for smartphones, these new phones really are game changers.
