On September 12, as everyone already knows, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 9, along with the Apple Watch Ultra 2, and new iPhone lineup.

But what has taken the back burner in hype lately is the Apple Watch Series 9. Everyone has been saying that is the exact same as last year, but I beg to differ. Some highlights include an all-new S9 processor, new double-tap feature, brighter display, new U2 chip, and completely carbon-neutral. Let’s dive in a bit more.

First, the processor, one of the main updates from the Series 8. It now has 60% more transistors the the S8 chip in the Apple Watch Series 8. A new four-core Neural Engine processes machine learning tasks up to two times faster, enabling great new innovations like the double-tap gesture. This new control lets just your thumb and pointer finger on your watch hand to tap together, to control the main button of the app you are in. For example, pausing the music, or answering or hanging up a call. This great chip also enables a more powerful Siri, with requests and actions processed on-device. Plus, Siri dictation is up to 25% more accurate than before. With this great new chip, it makes our lives with the Apple Watch easier than ever, with this chip making a great impact to performance and usability of the Apple Watch Series 9.

The Apple Watch Series 9 also sports a brighter display. With Apple explaining it thoroughly: The advanced display system in Series 9 boosts the maximum brightness up to 2000 nits — double Series 8 — so it’s easier to read in full sun. It’s also better in low‑light situations, like a movie theater, because it dims to just 1 nit. Very impressive, right? This would be great for use in direct sunlight when it is difficult to see the watch face. I know this would be useful for me.

The Apple Watch Series 9 now includes the second-generation ultra-wideband chip. This enables HomePod integration with Apple saying: When music is playing, Apple Watch Series 9 opens the Now Playing screen to let you control it. If nothing is playing, the Smart Stack will offer media suggestions to play on HomePod. Another great feature with this new chip is precision finding for your iPhone. This is very similar to precision finding for your AirTag, with guided directions and directional feedback. You can still ping your iPhone to get a sense for where it is. And now, with watchOS 10 and iOS 17, you can ping your Apple Watch from your iPhone. I know I will be using that often!

And, on top of it all, Apple announced that the new Apple Watch lineup (including Series 9) is completely carbon neutral. Apple is cutting the majority of emissions through innovations in materials, clean energy, and low-carbon shipping. They are also investing in nature-based projects to help support our Earth. Now, when we buy an Apple Watch we have the peace of mind that we are still supporting our environment, even with this purchase from a tech giant.

The Series 9 is now offered in four gorgeous Aluminum finishes, including Silver, Starlight, PRODUCT(RED), Midnight, and new Pink. The Stainless Steel comes in Gold, Silver, and Graphite. With this great spectrum of colors, there truly is one for anybody, with the all new Pink being the cherry on top for this new Watch.

With this array of brand new capabilities, this Apple Watch Series 9 really is a step up from the previous model. Performance and features users will value in their daily lives. This new Apple Watch Series 9 greatly improves upon the power and proficiency of the Apple Watch by bringing impactful new capabilities that won’t shy from being noticed throughout each user’s daily lives.
