Remember when Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 mini, and everyone was shocked how a small phone could still do as much as the great 6.1″ display? That has faded away, unfortunately. With the announcement of the iPhone 15’s, Apple has simplified their lineup to now include only the regular iPhone 13, iPhone 14 & 14 Plus, and the iPhone 15’s.
The mini lineup was a great offering for those looking for a more compact screen size, but having great features with a smaller price tag. The limited buyer pool of this device accounting for 3% of iPhone 13 sales simply led to its demise two years after being introduced (no mini model with iPhone 14). This seemingly raises the base price for an iPhone, especially when the iPhone 14 lineup was announced. This marked the first time (since iPhone 11) that Apple did not offer a mini iPhone model with a starting price $100 cheaper.
Now, the starting price for any iPhone rose from $699 to $799. It has become normal these days for an iPhone to start at $799, with no price hikes for the base price since the iPhone 14. Instead of a mini phone, Apple now offers a Plus regular iPhone (since the iPhone 14 and now the 15) for a bigger screen size without having to upgrade to the Pro Max. It seems as though this is being a bit more successful that the mini, but still not as popular as the normal iPhone models or Pro lineup.
For those still wanting a mini model, you can buy them from venders online as well as Amazon. Overall though, the mini product lineup for iPhones was a flop for Apple, but it still looks up with the bit more successful Plus model.
