Hi everyone. I said in my last post that I would try and post on Saturdays and Wednesdays, but today is neither of those days. I just was so excited to share this with you that I couldn’t wait to post this. But from now on, you should expect my to post on those two days of the week (maybe give or take one day).
As you probably do not know, I got the Apple Watch Series 10 for Christmas last year. I did not do an initial reaction to it, but I am doing review after using it for a few months.
To start, I originally had an Apple Watch SE, but the battery was draining fast, it had several scratches, and was a few years old. Time for an upgrade for me! Usually how I decide on which new Apple device I want to get is simply by going into the Apple Store and seeing for myself. Seeing the colors, bands, and different features available with the various models. In order to narrow it down, I knew I wanted an upgrade over my current watch (SE) and I also knew that I definitely did not need the extensive features of the Apple Watch Ultra either (and the price at $799 was a bit too much for me). That is how I settled upon the Apple Watch Series 10. Apple has usually released a new Apple Watch Series each year, so they have perfected this one. And, the Series 10 has added some meaningful upgrades over my current watch that convinced my to get this model.
Some of the upgraded features over the SE model that convinced me to switch include the Always-On Display (with a 2x brighter display), Double-tap gesture, overall faster performance with the latest SiP, and the biggest factor, the battery. Although there is no drastic change in the battery life itself, it is just I now notice that I can get through the entire day without having to charge my watch at all. And, the Series 10 can charge from 0-80% in 30 minutes. 30 minutes! Now that is an improvement. And it has a 36 hour battery life in low power mode. My previous watch used to take several hours for that charge level. It also makes it more convenient for me now to wear my watch to bed and although the battery will be lower, I can charge my watch while I am getting ready and still have a 100% charge.
A few other things that come along with the Series 10 include the ECG sensor, Sleep Apnea detection, wrist temperature sensor, and a water temperature sensor, water resistant up to 50 meters, and spruced up case colors. The specked out model that I got was the Jet Black color. I immediately thought that it would show fingerprints and scratch easily, but not the case at all. My favorite bands that Apple sells are the Nike Sport Loop bands and they are always refreshing the colors so you can never buy two of the same. And, I got the smaller screen size because my previous watch was the smaller model and I wanted to use my previous bands on my new watch too.
Some things that I noticed with everyday use of the Apple Watch Series 10 is it is considerably lighter than the Apple Watch SE and almost half the weight of the Apple Watch Ultra. That is something to consider if you want a light watch on your wrist. Also, the Double-tap gesture has been surprisingly useful, making it easier to interact with the watch when my other hand is occupied. I’ve used it most often for answering calls, pausing music, and scrolling through notifications without needing to touch the screen. I have also really enjoyed some the watch faces on the Series 10, being more edge-to-edge and having more vibrant colors. And, there is a face called Contour that I was unable to enjoy on the SE previously.
After using the Apple Watch Series 10 for a few months, I can confidently say it’s a great choice for anyone. It strikes the perfect balance, offering enough premium features to feel like a high-end device, while still remaining user-friendly and accessible for everyday use. The Always-On display is crisp and bright, the battery life easily lasts through the day, and the health tracking features add real value. While it may not be a drastic leap from previous models, the refinements in performance and design make it a worthwhile upgrade, especially for those with older Apple Watches. The Series 10 seamlessly integrates with the Apple ecosystem, syncing effortlessly with your iPhone and other devices, making it a solid choice for both casual users and tech enthusiasts. Whether you are looking for a stylish, functional smartwatch or need reliable health tracking and smart features, the Series 10 fits the bill.
