Apple just announced their exclusive streaming of select MLB games on Friday nights throughout the upcoming season. For those unfamiliar, “Friday Night Baseball” is Apple’s own streaming of certain MLB games exclusively on Apple TV+.

“Friday Night Baseball” returns to Apple TV+ for its fourth season on March 28, 2025, featuring a weekly doubleheader of marquee matchups. The season will showcase top talent and enhanced production quality, including immersive sound and player/field-level mics. Apple TV+ subscribers can enjoy the games on various devices, with new features like multiview and Post Play enhancing the viewing experience.

Apple also announced a new Apple Immersive Video for Apple Vision Pro, offering an all-access pass to Yankee Stadium. The video, available next month, will feature a June 2024 “Friday Night Baseball” matchup between the Yankees and Dodgers. Additionally, a new docuseries, “Fight For Glory: 2024 World Series,” will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the World Series matchup between the Yankees and Dodgers.

For those of you that do not have Apple TV+, there is usually some games throughout the season that Apple offers as free to non-TV+ subscribers. And, Apple users can also track the live scores of the games using Live Activities on the Lock Screen or on the Dynamic Island through the Apple Sports App. I often used these features for almost every game, tracking the scores even when Apple was not broadcasting them.

I think that Apple’s exclusive MLB games bring a new way to watch with cool features like multiview and immersive sound. These additions could make the games more fun and interactive. However, this also means that fans without Apple TV+ might feel left out. Offering a few free games is a good start, but it would be better if there were more ways for non-subscribers to enjoy the games too. While it’s a good move, making it more accessible for everyone could improve the experience.
