WWDC24: What I am expecting so far

Almost WWDC24, y’all!

I cannot wait to watch the annual WWDC this year! We are just coming off the heals of an iPad-centric event on May 7th, and it was jam-packed with new products and announcements. If you want to learn more about it, check out my post covering it here: New iPad lineup and more revealed today.

What I am most excited for is how Apple will introduce AI into its products through software. Apple touted that the M4 chip is built for AI, so that may be a part in it. Whenever Apple introduces something new, they always do it the Apple way, and I wonder how they will do it with AI. Before I talk too much, it is almost 100% confirmed that there will be AI at WWDC24 because Tim Cook has hinted at it many times this past year and from this specific tweet from the announcement day by Greg “Joz” Joswiak:

Do you notice anything? Well, the A and the I are unusually capitalized in Absolutely Incredible, meaning AI. Ding, ding, ding!!!

Besides AI, there are many other rumors about what is to be announced. Let’s do a rumor recap. Overall, it is said that Apple believes iOS 18 will be the biggest update to the iPhone ever. Find out more here from 9to5mac: Apple thinks iOS 18 might be the ‘biggest’ iOS update ever. Bloomberg has described iOS 18 as being Apple’s most “ambitious and compelling” update in years. The update is reportedly considered “groundbreaking” inside Apple and full of “major new features and designs, in addition to security and performance improvements.”

According to 9to5mac and their rumor report iOS 18: Here’s everything we know so far,

Following the addition of Home Screen widgets with iOS 14 in 2020, Apple reportedly has more Home Screen changes in store for iOS 18. According to a pair of reports, iOS 18 will include new customization for the iPhone’s Home Screen.

In particular, rumors say that Apple will let users freely place app icons on their Home Screen for the first time. This means iPhone users will be able to break free from the Home Screen grid and create gaps between widgets and app icons.

Apple may also release new Macs with the announcement of the M4 series, like the Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and possibly others.

Overall, these are just some rumors and thoughts that I have so far and there will most certainly be developments between now and WWDC on June 10th. Despite these rumors, Apple is known for fluctuating their plans and being unpredictable. Maybe some of these rumors are true, some may not be. We will have to see on June 10th! Watch the event with me on the Apple website on June 10th at 10am PDT.
